Use milestones for larger projects

Break a long engagement into reviewable stages with a payment attached to each one.

Choose meaningful stages

A milestone should represent a useful outcome: a discovery phase, first design direction, working build, or final handoff. Avoid splitting work into arbitrary slices that do not create a review point.

Review each stage

When a milestone is delivered, review it against the scope. Approve and release it when it is accepted, then move on to the next funded stage.
